The Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area, Hon Augustine Ogedegbe, has received an award of excellence in healthcare delivery from the Local Government Primary Health Authority.
Presenting the award, the Executive Secretary of the Authority, Dr Alfred Ofuegbe, said the recognition was based on Ogedegbe’s outstanding performance in providing accessible and quality healthcare services to residents of the council area.
He described the chairman as “a leader of inestimable value”, noting that his administration had undertaken the rehabilitation of several primary health centres, supplied equipment to facilities across the local government, sponsored immunisation programmes, and supported numerous sensitisation campaigns on health-related issues.
Dr Ofuegbe further commended Ogedegbe’s commitment to creating a clean and healthy environment in line with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
He highlighted sanitation exercises carried out in collaboration with local government health officers, which included clearing waste from roads, drains, markets, and public spaces.
He also noted the chairman’s support for the office of the First Lady of the local government, Deaconess (Mrs) Favour Ogedegbe, in distributing pharmaceuticals and food items to nursing mothers and health workers.
“We appreciate the bold efforts of the chairman in prioritising the healthcare sector and taking proactive steps to improve the health needs of the people. This award is our way of recognising a performing chairman who has excelled in service to humanity,” Dr Ofuegbe said.
Responding, Hon Ogedegbe dedicated the award to his management team for their collaboration and support.
“Our commitment to improving health outcomes for our people remains unwavering. We recognise that a healthy population is a productive population, and we will not stop working until every citizen in Ethiope East has access to the healthcare they deserve. This award is a great motivation for us to do even more,” he said.
