Let’s Join Hands To Build Urhobo Nation —Okorodudu

BY ELOHOR FOGHOLA/ELIZABETH ODUJE

THE Executive Director, Projects, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), who was Chairman of Urhobo Day 2025 Celebration Planning Committee, Olorogun (Dr.) Ebenezer Okorodudu, has called on Urhobo Nation to support the new leadership of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU).

Okorodudu made this appeal, yesterday, during an inter-denominational thanksgiving service to mark the Urhobo National Day Celebration at Urhobo House, Uvwiamuge-Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

He urged Urhobo sons and daughters to promote unity and rally behind the newly inaugurated UPU executive, stating that those with ideas on how to move Urhobo land forward should come up with such initiatives.

Reflecting on his long-standing relationship with the UPU, Okorodudu said although he is not an official of the union, he has been consistently called upon to serve for over 16 years

“The UPU has always found me worthy of service and each time, I have delivered with dedication and loyalty,” he said.

“UPU has once again deemed it fit to send me on an assignment and I remain grateful for the confidence and support extended to me.”

He thanked the President-General of the UPU, Barr. Ese Gam, describing him as a leader whose humility, cooperation, and trust made the committee’s work easy.

Okorodudu commended the Urhobo Nation for what he described as one of the most peaceful and transparent elections in recent UPU history. “Everyone witnessed the credibility of the process.

He further appealed to Urhobo people to support the UPU financially, announcing plans to institutionalize the funding of UPU through an endowment fund. ‘Under this initiative, every Urhobo son and daughter would contribute at least N1, 000 monthly to ensure the union’s long-term financial stability.”

Rev. Diamond Afor preached on “To Whom Much Is Given, Much Is Expected” (Matthew 3:1–12).

He urged the new UPU leadership to do more for the Urhobo Nation and work  with all for the progress of Urhobo Nation.
