Int’l Accountants Day: ANAN, Asaba Branch Organizes Seminar

…Acting Chairman Of Accountants Forum, Prisca Idama Graces Occasion

In preparation for the International Accountants Day coming up on Monday, November 10, the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Asaba branch, has empowered members with awareness on the theme “Driving Sustainable Impact through Accountable Policy Implementation”, as well as useful tips on health and home-grown agricultural practices, during a one-day seminar, held yesterday, at Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat, Asaba.

The members appreciated the presence of Mrs. Prisca Idama, Acting Chairman of the umbrella body of accountants in Delta State, the Delta State Forum of Accountants.

According to Chairman of ANAN Asaba branch, Mrs. Victoria Omamerhi-Chukwurah FCNA, represented by the Vice Chairman of the branch, Rev. Chiedu Williams FCNA, the seminar was a tonic in preparation for the D-day, which is the International Accounting Day held every November 10 around the globe.

Chairman of the occasion was Dr. (Mrs.) Biwi Theodora, Bursar, Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba. Also seated on the high table were the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Rev. Morgan Odiwe FCNA, Exco members of ANAN Asaba branch, including the Secretary-General, Rev. Jude Okeleke, the Treasurer, Mr. Victor Ilide, Assistant Secretary-General, Mrs. Nancy Ogeleka who is a member of the organizing committee, the PRO, Mr. Paul Enwa, as well as Mr. Clement Basime, a member of the organizing committee, Chairperson of Professional Women Accountants of Nigeria (PROWAN), Mrs. Tosan Erikpara, Mrs. Edosowan Scholastica, among others.

The event was set in motion with a lecture on practical agricultural practices for civil servants, delivered by Avwevrosuo Okorodudu PH.D, a staff of Delta State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, who taught ANAN members on home-based maintenance of seedlings for growth of crops, such as cucumber and other vegetables, fish farming and integrated pest management. Those who asked questions included Mr. Edirin Edwin Agbahovibe, Rev. Jude Okeleke, Mrs. Ola Ibrahim and Itobore Martha.

The next lecture was on stress management, presented by the duo of Mrs. Ebenezer Precious and Mrs. Ochei Esther. They taught the audience on how to manage and overcome stress, symptoms of stress and its types, as well as time management. They advised the audience to sleep for at least 7-8 hours, while the men should consume a daily water intake of three litres and 2.7 litres for women. They also took the accountants on a breathing exercise, while the class was divided into groups to discuss on “what they would do if their boss gives them a task to perform within 24 hours, but the computer to do the job suddenly crashes.” Some of the group leaders responded, such as Eta Gladys and Ifeanyi Isioma Precious, saying that such a situation requires honesty.

The third lecture on “Driving Sustainable Impact through Accountable Policy Implementation”, was delivered by Mr. Victor Ilide who spoke on effective strategy for integrating sustainability in research, among other topics.

Speaking to The Pointer, Chairman of the organizing committee, Mr. Morgan Odiwe commended the Chairman of the branch, Mrs. Chukwurah FCNA and National President of ANAN and Chairman of Council, Chief Hajia Zuwairat Talatu Kishimi FCNA for keying into this year’s International Accountants Day, recalling that every year, ANAN is in the forefront of its commemoration, using it as an opportunity to promote awareness of accounting practice worldwide.
