INEC, PDP Stakeholders Push Voter Registration In Ika South

BY PAUL EGEDE

THE Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ika South Local Government Area, Sir Jude Obuh, has led a high-powered delegation of party leaders to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) stakeholders’ meeting in Agbor.

In his company were Hon. Chinedu Eghor, Hon. Jude Obianke, and the Acting Secretary of the party, Ambassador Ashien Emmanuel.

The meeting drew together political parties, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), security agencies, and community leaders to deliberate on strengthening the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and ensuring the seamless distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

During the interactive session, Sir Obuh commended the Electoral Officer, Dame Dr Deborah Idoah, for her steadfast commitment to ensuring that the people of Ika South were fully carried along in the CVR process. He described her efforts as exemplary and vital to the success of Nigeria’s democratic journey.

“The people of Ika South cannot afford to be left out of the electoral process. We appreciate the transparency and dedication of the INEC team led by Dame Dr Idoah in making sure our communities are well represented in this exercise,” Obuh said.

Also speaking, Hon. Chinedu Eghor emphasised the need for a communal approach in distributing already printed PVCs. According to him, engaging community structures and leaders would help reduce the burden on individuals and improve accessibility.

He further assured the Commission that the PDP in Ika South was prepared to partner with INEC by mobilising members at the grassroots to participate fully in the exercise.

“We are committed as a party to sensitising and mobilising our people. The credibility of elections begins with proper registration and collection of PVCs, and we will do our part to ensure our people are not disenfranchised,” Eghor added.

The stakeholders’ meeting provided a platform for robust engagement between INEC and critical players in the electoral process ahead of future polls.
