OUT of favour Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho is excited to begin life with his new Scottish club, Celtic on a bright note.
The former Leicester of England forward scored a last-gasp penalty on his debut, at the weekend, to gift Celtic a 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock after coming in as a second half substitute in a Scottish premiership league fixture which secured all three points for his team.
Iheanacho’s career suffered decline after his move to Seville in the La Liga in Spain from England, which since then he has failed to impress even at Middleborough after leaving Seville.
But his former manager at Leicester, Brendan Rodgers decided to give him another chance to revive his career which the left -footed player described as “a new opportunity”.
According to him, this means a lot to him as he hopes to use it as a new springboard to relaunch his career.
“I’m so excited and relieved to score on my debut.
“The feeling is great. The fans are wonderful. I hope to keep pushing myself and working hard to use this great opportunity to relaunch myself.
“It has been some difficult years in the dungeon which I do everything to make the most of this chance.
“My sincere appreciation to Rodgers for the confident he reposed in me. I hope to pay him back with my performances.
“I thank God it has all started well and looking forward to more refreshing performances”.
Iheanacho has fallen out of favour with the national team, may be this can help him return to the Super Eagles if he can find his old lost form which saw him play for Manchester City.
