SPEAKER, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor has expressed shock over the death of former Clerk of the Assembly, Chief Dan Okenyi.
Okenyi hailed from Ukwunzu Community in Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.
The Speaker, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Nkem Nwaeke, said that the news of the death of the former Clerk, who also served as Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development in Delta State, was received with profound sadness and wished his soul eternal rest.
Guwor also prayed to God to grant the bereaved family fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
He said “It is with profound sadness that I received the news of the passing of Chief Dan Okenyi, a former Clerk of the Delta State House of Assembly and Commissioner for Lands, Survey, and Urban Development.
“On behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly, I extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased.
“May the family find solace in cherished memories of their late patriarch and may the Almighty God grant them the strength to navigate this difficult period”, Guwor stated.
A family source said the late Dan Okenyi, popularly called Kabila, who held sway as Clerk of the House during the 2nd and part of the 3rd Delta State Assembly, died after a brief illness.
