- Urges Support For The Poor
Our Pointer Weekend Guest this week is the founder of Awele Ugochukwu Osisi Foundation, Comrade Awele Ugochukwu. She is a philanthropist, community leader, business person and believes in the development of the people and society.
She spoke to our man, Ifeanyi Omenogor, where she talked about philanthropics, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s leadership in Delta, community development, 2027 elections, among other issues. Excerpt.
Madam, you are from Ewulu, in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, what is your take about your people?
Thank you very much. My people as you know are peace loving. They are hardworking and have fear of God and always their brother’s keeper just like myself.
Just like yourself, what do you mean?
Yes, you know I am a philanthropist. I own a foundation, through which I reach-out to the less privileged in the society, so, giving helping hands runs through our blood. We are always concern about the welfare of ourselves and others irrespective of tribe or religion.
This brings us to your foundation, what are the aims and objectives of the Awele Ugochukwu Osisi Foundation?
This is a good question. As you know, our foundation, like every other ones in society, is into humanitarian services to the society and the people. Our main goal is to reach out to the needy among us in times of need. Under our foundation, we have helped a lot of persons and provided infrastructures and learning materials to schools and reached out to many during yearly celebrations like Christmas and New Year.
We have also ensured that many who cannot afford education go school. We have helped to provide infrastructures in society and helped to ensure that there is peace and unity among our people and the society at large.
Therefore, I am using this opportunity to call on the elites to give back to society and help the poor among us so that the society will be a better place for us all. This is in line with Biblical admonition.
Now, you are a Deltan, what do have to say about Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration in the state?
From the achievements of the this present government in the state, I can say that the Governor has exhibited exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to good governance because Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has brought notable transformation to Delta State.
You see, the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, in synergy with the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Government has continued to bring tangible results and renewed optimism to Deltans.
I am saying that Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is a visionary leader, who is determined to take the state to a higher level; hence the link up with the Federal Government is commendable.
We all are witnesses to the fact that his efforts have attracted federal presence to the state for accelerated progress and inclusive development.
Therefore, to appreciate the governor’s good leadership, the Foundation and the entire Ewulu Community will continue to support the Governor come 2027 to enable him continue to steer Delta State to the Promised Land.
Do You Have Any Message For The Governor?
Yes. I want to thank the governor for making Delta proud, but want to appeal to him to complete the Ewulu phase (2) road project, to ease the movement of the people and farm produce to the urban centres.
As we all know, Ewulu is an agrarian community that is into food production for the state and the nation at large, therefore, calling for the completion of the road is timely.
Any other advice or message to Deltans, Nigerians?
Yes, particularly to my good people of Ewulu, Deltans and the entire country, we must be peaceful, united and have the interest of our communities, state and nation at heart. As the 2027 general elections approach, we must stand by our governor to enable him complete the transformation of the state through the MORE Agenda.
