GOVERNOR Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has urged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the state to make meaningful contributions to the development of their host communities.
The governor gave the adviceyesterday at the closing ceremony of Batch A Stream 1 Corp members at the NYSC Orientation Camp Issele-Uku yesterday.
Oborevwori represented by the state Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Trakiriowei ThankGod, urged the corps members to Identify and implement projects that would address local needs.
The governor urged them to serve with passion, humility and integrity.“Let your presence create a positive and lasting impact in your host communities. The Delta State Government remains fully committed to your welfare and safety.
“We have engaged all stakeholders, communities, security agencies and employers, to ensure your well-being is prioritised.
“Additionally, we have encouraged the private sector and corps employers to support your efforts, particularly through sponsorship of community development service projects.
“These collaborative efforts will not only uplift communities, but also empower you to become agents of meaningful change,” he said.
Oborevwori promised that corps members who distinguished themselves through innovation, dedication and outstanding service would be celebrated.
He urged the corps members to put to use the entrepreneurial and leadership skills they acquired during their orientation course.
“Use them as tools to shape your future and contribute to national development. Nation building is a collective task that demands sacrifice, honesty, diligence and a resolute spirit.
“As ambassadors of unity and progress, let your service reflect these virtues.
“The orientation has provided you with a platform to build camaraderie, foster unity, and reinforce the core values of patriotism, discipline, peaceful coexistence and national integration.
” I am pleased to note your active participation and high level of commitment you demonstrated throughout the programme,” he added.
The NYSC Delta State coordinator, Mr John Kwange, urged the corps members to accept their postings in good faith and integrate quickly into their host communities.
“We want you to contribute positively to their development.
“Respect their customs, traditions, and religious beliefs and strive to foster peaceful and harmonious relationships throughout your service year.
