A 94-year-old community elder and traditional leader, Chief Godwin Ogbetuo, at the weekend showered praises on the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, over what he described as his ‘exemplary leadership and prudent management of the state’s resources.’
Chief Ogbetuo, who is the Afure of Agbon Kingdom, gave the commendation immediately after his installation as the oldest man in Ibruvwe Community.
He said: “When a son does well, he gets the praise and blessings of his father, and that is why I am today praising my son, Governor Oborevwori, for transforming Delta to a model State. I am impressed with his performance.
“Oborevwori’s tireless efforts in developing and improving on the state of infrastructure across the three senatorial districts of the state, and in particular, the ongoing construction of flyovers at the PTI junction, Effurun, and the approval of others at Otovwodo junction, Ughelli North, and Agbor, in Ika South Local Government Area is a testament to his total commitment to taking Delta State to the next level,” he added.
Chief Ogbetuo, who said that, aside from this, the Oborevwori’s administration had also embarked on a massive development/rehabilitation of the network of roads in the State, an initiative he said was indicative of his wise decision to continue from where his predecessor, Sen (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa stopped in road infrastructure development.
He said the governor deserves commendation for approving N10bn for the payment of pensioners’ gratuity and transformation in the health and education sectors.
“I give it to him that he is a governor who believes that government is a continuum,” Pa Ogbetuo added.
While calling on Deltans to sustain their support for the governor till 2027 and beyond for him to consolidate on his good works and provision of democracy dividends, Pa Ogbetuo appealed to him to extend his good works in the rehabilitation of the deplorable Kokori to Ibruvwe/Erhoike Community road.
Rehabilitation of the road, he said, would make it easy for his people to access the Oil/Gas station and hospital built by Shell Company for the community.
He reminded the Governor that the Ibruvwe/Erhoike Community had contributed immensely to the national/state economy in the area of oil and gas.
