AS a prelude to the formulation and receipt of the 2026 Budget, the Delta State House of Assembly, yesterday, received the three year Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) 2026-2028.
The document, which serves as the foundation for the formulation of the 2026 Budget was forwarded to the State legislature by the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
The document, which is the 12th edition of the State’s FSP, was read by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor during yesterday’s plenary.
The State Governor in the letter addressed to the legislature, disclosed that the document is in line with the provisions of the Fiscal Responsibility Law and in keeping with international best practices.
According to Governor Oborevwori, the document comprises four key component which include Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP), Economic and Fiscal Update (EFU) and the Budget Policy Statement (BPS)
He said “together, these elements provide a comprehensive framework for budget planning and preparation, incorporating economic and Fiscal analyses, assessments of past and current budget performance, and identification of key factors influencing implementation”
Motion for the receipt of the document was moved by Leader of the State Assembly, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi as it was supported by Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo
The document was, however, referred to the House committee on Finance and Appropriation for further legislative consideration.
