Ewu-Urhobo Kingdom Postpones Chieftaincy Title Ceremony

The Palace of Ewu-Urhobo Kingdom has announced the postponement of its highly anticipated Chieftaincy Title Conferment Ceremony, originally scheduled for yesterday, October 11, 2025.

According to a press release from the Office of the Kingdom Secretary, Chief Henry Abizor, the decision follows a recent near-miss incident involving an Air Peace aircraft. The revered king of Ewu-Urhobo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Ovie Clement Oghenerukevwe Ikolo, Urhukpe I, was among the passengers. The harrowing experience, which could have ended in tragedy, has left the Kingdom in a state of reflection and gratitude.

“The Palace and the entire people of Ewu-Urhobo Kingdom give profound thanks to Almighty God for sparing the precious life of our King and all other passengers aboard the aircraft,” the statement said, describing the event as a testimony of divine mercy and protection.

In light of the incident and after consultations with the Ewu-Urhobo Traditional Council, the ceremony has been rescheduled to November 2025. The Palace emphasised that this decision allows for a period of thanksgiving, reflection, and ensures that the forthcoming event is conducted with the decorum, peace, and joy befitting such an occasion.

The new date for the Chieftaincy Title Conferment Ceremony will be officially communicated in due course. The Palace also extended its heartfelt appreciation to all subjects, well-wishers, and friends of the Kingdom for their understanding, prayers, and support.
