Evomec FC have emerged Champions of the third edition of Evomec Super Cup football tournament 2025 after beating Lions Star FC with a lone penalty goal from Brume Rume.
The 2025 Edition of the tournament was proudly Sponsored by High Chief Peter Onajite Esievo, MD Evomec Global services Ltd and it is hosted at Oviorie-Ovu, in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The third edition of the competition, held at the Oviorie Secondary school main field, witnessed a large turnout of spectators and dignitaries from far and near.
The best coach award of the tournament went to Evomec FC coach, Mr Ejovwoke Oboravwoboko, while Jesuovie was named best goalkeeper; Oke Igbunu, best player junior team; Etuke Moses, best player of the tournament, while Isaac Sunny went home with golden boot after emerging the highest goals scorer with 12 goals.
The 2025 Champions of the Evomec Super Cup Tournament Evomec FC, received a trophy and a cash sum of N4m, while the first runner up, Lions Star FC received N2.5m cash and the second runner up, Okpara Waterside United FC received N1.5m
In addition, the match officials also went home with a huge sum of money for their excellent performance throughout the tournament.
Presenting the trophy to Evomec FC champions of the tournament, High Chief Esievo said he was very happy and appreciated all for coming to support him, and advising those teams that did not win to prepare hard for the 4th edition in 2026.
Speaking to newsmen, High Chief Peter Onajite Esievo said, “the purpose of hosting this tournament every year is very simple, you have to agree with me that football is a unifying factor, not only in Nigeria but the World at large, I am doing this to play my part in uniting our people.
He said, “As a matter of fact, football is a symbol of unity and supporting grassroot football means we are preparing the youths for tomorrow, so this is one thing I think we need to join hands together to do, we are not only promoting sports, but we are also promoting unity at all levels.
“Its a very good match we have watched so far, talking about the game, we saw very high level of soccer artistry and that reminds us of the ongoing Nation’s Cup we have been watching, it has been an amazing display by both teams, just as you as you have seen, both teams are very good but my team the Evomec football team emerged Champions, ”
The Evomec MD said, “Before we began this year competition, I donated sets of Jerseys and pairs of booths to all participating teams and just this afternoon, i ordered for a coaster bus for my team, it would be delivered tomorrow to support their movements from one place to the other.
“On a general note, it has been a worthwhile event, and we hope to support this and we are also calling on the Delta State Governor H.E Rt Hon Elder Sherriff Francis O.Oborevwori, the chairman Delta State Sports Commission, Mr Onoriode Oborevwori and so on, we would join hands together not only just to promote sports in the State but to take it to the next level where Delta State’s name would be on the page again,”
Esievo stated that, “On the issue of my philanthropist nature, the Bible says, it is more blessed to give than to receive, and if you get to know of the background where I came from and when you feels life have ended and God now decides to bring you to this kind of level, if it is God that truly bless you, you will have no option than to give back to the society what you did not see at the beginning of your life,”
The great philanthropist said, “the recent Most Valuable Philanthropist Award 2025 given to me by the Isioghene Compassionate Foundation, a Charity organization, shows that people appreciates whatever good you are doing and I am happy, I also give kudos to the foundation for recognizing me, I will not allow it get into my head, because the reward for excellent work is more work, what I learnt from it is that they are telling me to do more for the society and it shows God’s fulfilment in my life,”
The Agbon Kingdom High Chief said, ” I want to advise our youths to be hardworking, dedicated, courageous, resilient and also to develop the spirit of the eagle that soared so high because if they can fly so high, you can see so high and you can feed so high as well, they should shun any act that would bring embarrassments and disrepute to themselves, families, our dear state, Local Government Area and our community, they should work so hard and sweat for their money, you do not sit at your comfort to make money.
“And my prayers for them is for them to go very high because I believe we need to catch them young and there is a certain stage you get to in football, you would only be recognised locally, so I want them to have their minds fixed in the global stage where we start watching them on the television, when they start earning dollars and bringing their dividends back to our society, so on a general note, they should be serious where they find themselves and they should be serious with their education because they can certainly combine the two effectively”.
On their part, Chief Augustine Usinefe Ogedegbe JP, executive chairman of Ethiope-East LGA, Mr Onoriode Oborevwori, Chairman Delta State Sports Commission thanked High Chief Peter Onajite Esievo for the good job and encouraged the youths to be serious with their profession.
