The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has reassured all residents of the FCT of security, during and after the holidays, reeling off also, projects in various sectors to be commissioned. This according to him, is to mark the second year anniversary of the President and are aimed at opening up the healthcare, education, agriculture, transportation and more sectors of the FCT.
The Minister, in his Eid-El-Kabir message, cited that Eid-el-Kabir is a time to reflect on the deeper meaning of submission to the Will of Allah, and to recommit ourselves to compassion, generosity, and unity.
He stated, that under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President, the administration has worked tirelessly to ease the burdens faced by the people. “We have made commendable progress in infrastructural development, security enhancement, and social welfare interventions. These efforts are all aimed at improving the quality of life for every resident of the FCT.”
Regarding security, the Minister reassured all residents that the security agencies are working around the clock to ensure the safety of lives and property during the holidays and beyond. Stating, that the FCTA continues to maintain close collaboration with all security operatives to keep Abuja safe and secure. “I am proud to say that Abuja remains the safest city in the country, and we are doing everything possible to keep it that way.”
“Recently, there was a quarry-related explosion that caused understandable public anxiety and was initially mistaken for a suicide bombing. I want to emphasize that this incident was industrial in nature, not an act of terrorism. Immediate investigations were conducted, and appropriate safety measures are being reinforced to prevent any recurrence. We are committed to transparent communication and proactive management of public safety concerns.
“On behalf of the FCT Administration, I wish you and your families a joyful, safe, and spiritually fulfilling Eid. May Allah accept our prayers and sacrifices, and may He continue to bless the FCT and our dear nation, Nigeria.”
