THE Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), in collaboration with UNICEF and other development partners, has held a strategic engagement meeting with stakeholders to strengthen grassroots coordination ahead of the 2026 Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccination Catch-Up Campaign.
The meeting, which took place at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA), focused on enhancing advocacy, communication, and social mobilization strategies to ensure the successful implementation of the campaign across Edo State.
Participants at the meeting includes journalists, civil society organizations, religious bodies, school owners, health educators, and representatives of UNICEF, IVAC, WHO, JSI, and other implementing partners, alongside officials from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and EDSPHCDA.
Representing the Executive Secretary of EDSPHCDA, Dr. Coulson Oahimire, the Director of Disease Control and Immunization, Dr. Efeomon Eseigbe, delivered the welcome address. He expressed appreciation to the stakeholders for honouring the invitation despite their busy schedules and underscored the global and national burden of measles and rubella, emphasizing vaccination as the most effective preventive measure.
The State Health Educator, Mrs. Irene Uabor, led discussions on advocacy, communication, and social mobilization activities at both the state and LGA levels.
