DTSG Commits To Harnessing Opportunities For Technological Development

DELTA State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, has expressed the State government’s commitment to creating the needed opportunities for technological initiative and development, by harnessing talents of students in science competition.

The commissioner stated this in Asaba during the zonal stage of science competition and exhibition for students in junior and senior categories, who scaled through the preliminary stage earlier conducted in the State.

Represented by the Director of Science Education, Mrs. Hope Igumbor, the Commissioner stated that the essence of the competition was to unravel the basic problem why the country is not producing but always depended on exporting products from other countries.

Ezewu, who said that the zonal competition was being held in Asaba for Delta North, Warri for Delta South and Ughelli for Delta Central Senatorial Districts, noted that the proposed project the students were expected to work on during the final stage and exhibit is solar energy.

Also speaking, the Supervisor of the centre, Mr. Lucky Iriferi stated that the objective of the competition was to encourage the technological innovations and drives of the students, adding that after the zonal stage, there would be the State final where the best three in each of the categories would be selected after successfully exhibiting their projects.

Iriferi described science competition and exhibition as a strategic approach to encourage resilience and committed spirit of the students.

He said that the best among them would be rewarded for their hard work.
