AS the onslaught against the operations of illegal schools heats up, the Delta State Government has Shut-down six unapproved schools in Oshimili North Local Government Area of the State.
The Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, made this known to newsmen in Okpanam while monitoring the level of compliance with the State government’s directive on registration of schools on Monday.
Dr. Ashibogwu mentioned the affected schools to include Splendour Care Nursery and Primary School; Immortal Dominion Academy and Glorious Height Nursery and Primary School.
Others affected are Magnified Mercy Nursery and Primary; Cossy Jully Academy and Ducams Schools, all in Okpanam, Oshimili-North Local Government Area.
According to the Commissioner, the schools were closed down for operating without the government’s approval, and running unauthorized educational programmes.
His words: “The ministry has sent warnings on several occasions to all unregistered primary schools across the State to do the needful.
“This decision is not meant to witch-hunt anybody but for the academic well-being of our dear children.
“All the affected schools have been sealed until they get approval from the State government through the Ministry of Primary Education.
