…Trains Consultants on Effective Traffic Management For Safer Roads

IN a bid to enhance road safety and improve traffic control across Delta State, the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) has organized a two-day intensive training for its consultants on effective traffic management and control strategies.
The training held in Asaba, brought together traffic consultants and field officers from across the state aimed at deepening their knowledge of modern traffic control techniques, promote road safety, and ensure smoother vehicular movement.
According to the Director General, DESTMA, Hon. Benjamin Okiemute the initiative was part of the Authority’s renewed commitment to reducing traffic-related incidents, enforcing road regulations more efficiently, and equipping personnel with updated operational skills.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Okiemute emphasized the importance of continuous t raining in keeping pace with evolving traffic challenges in a fast-growing urban environment like Delta State.
“This training is timely and necessary. As our roads become busier, the need for strategic and effective traffic management cannot be overstated,” he said.
The DG urged them to take the training seriously, so that they can apply it in their various zones.
He reaffirmed DESTMA commitment to capacity building and encouraged continuous collaboration with stakeholders to create a safer and more orderly traffic environment across the state.
Some participants, who spoke to journalists, described the training a s eye -opening and essential in helping them perform their duties more professionally and efficiently.
Participants were trained and exposed to best practices in road safety management , crisis control at traffic hotspots, communication techniques for traffic officers, and the integration of technology in daily traffic operations.
