THE newly appointed Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, Ifechi Onyenwuba and her team has paid familiarization visit to the Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Hon. Bright Afure Abeke.
Speaking during the visit at local government Secretariat, Onyenwuba highlighted the necessity of a formal introduction and cooperation between the council and immigration authorities in performing their duties.
Onyenwuba’s speech centered on identifying key areas of cooperation, including community sensitization programs, joint initiatives for civic education, and strategies to boost local security frameworks.
She also noted that effective immigration management required close coordination between the NIS and local governments; hence, the visit should facilitate the synergy between both parties.
In his response, the local government Chairman expressed his appreciation for the visit and stated the importance of such synergies in promoting peace, order, and community development.
