Delta HOS Testifies At Civil Service Week

BY PATRICK MGBODO

DELTA State Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji led heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and other civil servants in thanksgiving to God as the 2025 civil service year came to a close yesterday.

At the thanksgiving service, which was held at the Church of God Mission bishopric headquarters in Asaba, Dr Oseji shared a testimony of how God intervened in making the weeklong programme a success.

Dr Oseji narrated how the Public Lecture, which was the high point of the event almost took a negative turn from her plans and supplications to God, but eventually became a success that surpassed her imagination.

‘’On the day of the Public Lecture, which is the highpoint of the weeklong activities here all the civil servants come together and be motivated…. Whenever I have such events, I wake up and pray and scatter all the evil forces in the spiritual before I go for the manifestation in the physical. That was exactly what I did.

‘’When we got there, there was practically nobody a few minutes to the time. To compound matters, it started raining so that even if there was hope for people to start coming, the rain posed a challenge.

‘’so, I directed the members of the planning committee to go and mobilise buses to bring the officers from their various offices and then I sat down to wait. Before I could even take a breather, the ADC to the Governor called me and put me across to the Governor.

‘’The Governor said, ‘HOS, I hear the hall is empty’’ and I answered ‘’Your Excellency, it is because of the rain but we are arranging for them to come.’’ Then I turned to God in prayers, asking Him why He had forsaken me and also reminding Him that He gave me His assurance.

‘’Within 20 minutes, the hall started filling up and by the time it was two-thirds full, I took a photograph of the hall and sent it to the Governor. The Governor came and those who won our quiz were supposed to be given N100,000 and N30,000, the Governor escalated it to N500,000 each. Then I knew that my God will not forsake me’’ she said.

On the sidelines, the HOS expressed delight for the return of the civil service week and its success despite the short period for preparation, even as she hoped for a greater outing in the next edition building on the lessons learned.

Also, the functioning Permanent Secretary (Establishment and Pensions) Mr Kingsley Olumokoro, underscored the benefits of the civil service week, even as he thanked the Head of Service for reviving the event.

‘’I enjoin all civil servants to cooperate with the new Head of Service because she has great ideas to move the service ahead and I believe that by the grace of God, she will do it’’ he said, just as he also thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

During the service, Bishop Dickson Obadon announced a new pastor for the church, Rev Eric Nwachukwu, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the bishopric headquarters of the Church of God Mission, Asaba.
