For the first time in the history of the Nigerian Army Regular Recruits Intake (RRI) exercise, Delta State has successfully filled its quota allocation in the recently concluded 89th RRI recruitment screening held at the Cenotaph Complex, Asaba.
The Director-General of the State Bureau for Communications and Orientation, Dr Fred Oghenesivbe, made this disclosure in Asaba, assuring that the success recorded would be sustained.
He revealed that 100 out of the 200 successful recruits of Delta State origin, drawn from across the 25 Local Government Areas, arrived at the Nigerian Army Training Depot in Zaria, Kaduna State, on Friday, while the second batch of 100 recruits is expected to depart Asaba next week for the Nigerian Army training facility in Osogbo, Osun State, under the supervision of Army Recruitment Officer, Lt Col Daniel Appah.
Oghenesivbe expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Administration, Major General Lawrence Fejokwu, for taking time out of his schedule to visit the shortlisted candidates at the Cenotaph Complex, Asaba, during the screening exercise.
He noted that the visit boosted the candidates’ morale and helped instil confidence and transparency in the process. The Bureau Chief attributed this landmark achievement to the commitment of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who took decisive steps to ensure that Delta State filled its quota allocation.
This included the constitution of the State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services, and mandating the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Kingsley Emu, to oversee the activities and performance of the committee.
He emphasised that the Governor’s proactive steps had finally paid off, assuring that the committee would continue to do the needful to sustain the state’s success in all military and paramilitary recruitment exercises.
The Bureau Chief also commended the 89th RRI Recruitment Officer assigned to Delta State, Lt Col Daniel Appah, for doing an excellent job in ensuring that the best candidates emerged to fill the state’s quota.
He further thanked the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, for providing strong leadership and oversight for the State Awareness Creation Committee.
“For the first time in history, Delta State has filled her quota allocation in the Nigerian Army Regular Recruits Intake exercise. This is another remarkable achievement of Governor Oborevwori’s administration.
“A total of 200 successful recruits emerged, of which 100 arrived at the Zaria training depot on Friday, while the second batch of 100 will proceed to the Osogbo training facility next week.
“This success was the result of deliberate efforts by Governor Oborevwori, the strong leadership of Delta SSG Dr Kingsley Emu, the Committee Chairman Commissioner ThankGod, Permanent Secretary of the Directorate of Political and Security Services, Mr Chuks Aguonye, the State Bureau for Communications and Orientation, and members of the State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services.
“As a committee, we shall continue to work very hard to sustain this remarkable success,” Oghenesivbe assured.
