Deaconess Oborevwori Flags Off M.O.R.E Cap-Up Grant For Rural Women In Delta State

THE First Lady of Delta State, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, has reaffirmed her commitment to women’s empowerment and rural development as she officially flagged off the M.O.R.E Cap-Up Programme, an initiative designed to support women in creative industries across rural communities of Delta State.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, Deaconess Oborevwori described the programme as a significant step in promoting the M.O.R.E Agenda of the present administration, which stands for Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security. She noted that empowering women in creative enterprises such as fashion, crafts, culinary arts, and film production would not only uplift individual families but also strengthen the state’s economy and inspire self-reliance among rural dwellers.

The First Lady commended the Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (DEMSMEDA), for collaborating with her office to implement the programme, adding that the initiative reflects the administration’s dedication to inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods.

In his remarks, the Chairman of DEMSMEDA, Dr Henry Sakpra, explained through the executive secretary of the Agency, Dr Godwin Adolor who represented him, that the M.O.R.E Cap-Up Programme was conceived to bridge economic gaps.

He added that the initiative also aimed at providing financial support for women-led enterprises as well as to promote creativity and innovation at the grassroots level.

The event attracted top government functionaries, community leaders, women groups, and beneficiaries from various local government areas.

The various beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the State Government and the First Lady for providing opportunities that empower women to thrive in business.
