CMO Asaba Region Celebrates Festival Of Nine Lessons, Carols

THE Catholic Men Or­ganisation of Nige­ria (CMON), Asaba Region, Diocese of Issele- Uku, has held its annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, celebrating the essence of Christmas.

The event, hosted at St John Mary Vianney Catholic Church, Asaba, attracted a diverse audi­ence, among which were parish chairmen of the organisation, priests, sev­eral choirs, award recipi­ents, families, and friends who gathered in the spirit of the season.

In his welcome ad­dress, the Chairman of the event, Dr Emmanuel Emecheta, expressed gratitude to all present while highlighting the spiritual significance of the gathering.

“This reminds us of God’s unconditional love and the fulfillment of His promises through the birth of His Son, Jesus Christ,” he said, adding, “As we listen to the les­sons, may the message of hope, love, peace, and salvation fill our hearts.’’

Dr Emecheta extended appreciation to the parish priest, scripture readers, and guests from various parishes, and everyone who contributed to the success of the event. He prayed that the celebra­tion would inspire faith, strengthen unity, and re­new hope,” he said.

Also speaking, the Chairman of CMO, Asa­ba Region, Dr Michael Emeshil i, applauded the 47 parish chairmen across Asaba for their rep­resentation and support.

“With immense joy and gratitude, I appreciate you all for gracing this 2025 Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols,” he said, de­scribing the celebration titled “The Reign of Mes­siah” as a sacred moment of unity, reflection, and celebration of the birth of  Jesus Christ.

Dr Emeshili emphasised the power of faith, obe­dience, and the transfor­mative message of Christ, urging the faithful to see the event as a time for re­newal, vibrant worship, and strengthening community bonds.

The ceremony featured uplifting Christmas rendi­tions by the St. John Mary Vianney Catholic Choir, St. Cecilia Choir, and the Catho­lic Church of the Ascension. The event also witnessed the presentation of awards to individuals recognised for their contributions to the growth and strength­ening of the Christian com­munity, and drama.
