THE Catholic Men Organisation of Nigeria (CMON), Asaba Region, Diocese of Issele- Uku, has held its annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, celebrating the essence of Christmas.
The event, hosted at St John Mary Vianney Catholic Church, Asaba, attracted a diverse audience, among which were parish chairmen of the organisation, priests, several choirs, award recipients, families, and friends who gathered in the spirit of the season.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the event, Dr Emmanuel Emecheta, expressed gratitude to all present while highlighting the spiritual significance of the gathering.
“This reminds us of God’s unconditional love and the fulfillment of His promises through the birth of His Son, Jesus Christ,” he said, adding, “As we listen to the lessons, may the message of hope, love, peace, and salvation fill our hearts.’’
Dr Emecheta extended appreciation to the parish priest, scripture readers, and guests from various parishes, and everyone who contributed to the success of the event. He prayed that the celebration would inspire faith, strengthen unity, and renew hope,” he said.
Also speaking, the Chairman of CMO, Asaba Region, Dr Michael Emeshil i, applauded the 47 parish chairmen across Asaba for their representation and support.
“With immense joy and gratitude, I appreciate you all for gracing this 2025 Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols,” he said, describing the celebration titled “The Reign of Messiah” as a sacred moment of unity, reflection, and celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Dr Emeshili emphasised the power of faith, obedience, and the transformative message of Christ, urging the faithful to see the event as a time for renewal, vibrant worship, and strengthening community bonds.
The ceremony featured uplifting Christmas renditions by the St. John Mary Vianney Catholic Choir, St. Cecilia Choir, and the Catholic Church of the Ascension. The event also witnessed the presentation of awards to individuals recognised for their contributions to the growth and strengthening of the Christian community, and drama.
