Chinye Commends DTHA House Committee For Oversight Visit

By Austine Enunwa

THE Chairman, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Hon. Emmanuel Chinye has commended members of the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Affairs for their commitment to grassroots development.

Chinye gave the commendation during the Committee’s working visit to the local government Secretariat, led by its Chairman, Hon. Chukwudi Dafe.

While welcoming the lawmakers, Hon. Chinye expressed joy at receiving them, noting that the visit coincided with his administration’s one year and two months in office. He said his government had been working to rebuild Aniocha North in line with the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

“We are glad to receive you because we know you have come for genuine reasons—to assess and profile how we are utilizing income from the State and Federal government,” he stated.

He outlined notable projects executed under his leadership, stressing that his administration is guided by community-driven initiatives. “Our projects are based on the needs of the people. We don’t go into any community to impose projects. At the onset, we consulted all 18 communities and requested they identify three priority projects each. These community inputs formed the template for our development agenda,” he explained.

According to him, projects have so far been completed in 15 of the 18 communities, with the remaining three expected to be delivered before year-end. He highlighted interventions in markets, water supply, school infrastructure, town halls, healthcare facilities, and road rehabilitation.

“We are making steady progress in Aniocha North, and before the end of our tenure, we will achieve more, in line with the Governor’s Renewed Hope and MORE Agenda,” Hon. Chinye assured.

In his remarks, Committee Chairman, Hon. Chukwudi Dafe, applauded the Chairman for aligning with the policy direction of the State government. He explained that the purpose of their oversight visit was to ensure that projects executed at the local level were were consistent with the State’s development agenda.

He added that the Committee would review the budget, income and expenditure records, and other documents submitted by the local government, cross-checking them against projects on ground before submitting a detailed report to the Governor through the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
