- Bishop Ebolum Warns
BY RITA OYIBOKA
AS Nigeria edges towards 2026, the Presiding Bishop and Head Pastor of Dominion Christian Centre, Asaba, Bishop Kenneth Ebolum, has warned that the nation’s fortunes in the coming year will depend largely on the moral choices of its leaders, stressing that excesses in leadership would attract divine judgment.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with The Pointer in Asaba, Bishop Ebolum said he does not engage in political or economic predictions, noting that his position is firmly anchored on biblical principles, rather than speculation.
“I don’t make predictions. I draw from the word of God and stay on this foundation. I want to see what God Himself has promised,” he said.
Calling on individuals to humble themselves, seek God’s face and turn from wicked ways, the cleric described repentance and the fear of God as Nigeria’s only viable framework for healing and national restoration.
According to him, persistent wickedness could trigger judgment, adding that such judgment, as stated in the scriptures, would be divine.
“Such people should be careful how they lead”, he warned. The cleric lamented what he described as misplaced priorities among some leaders, who, he said, become pre-occupied with luxury and personal comfort immediately after assuming office, while citizens grapple with hardship.
“People should lead with the consciousness of death and more importantly, with the fear of God. The fear of God attracts His presence. When we reject that fear, we attract the opposite,” he said.
Bishop Ebolum called for a return to servant leadership, urging those in authority to lead with conscience, responsibility and service to the people.
“My prayer is that Nigeria will develop a conscience, and that leaders, at whatever level, will do well. Leadership should be about service, and that is the principle I live by,” he said.
He further prayed for the nation, expressing hope that as Nigerians renew their commitment to God and righteous living, divine mercy would prevail in the coming year.
“My prayer is that as we turn a new leaf in our service to God and our fear of God as a nation, God will look down from heaven and show Nigeria mercy,” he added.
