Delta State Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu has said that the State governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has shown commitment towards the realization of the MORE Agenda programmes of his administration.
Dr. Ashibogwu stated this as he joined Deltans in celebrating the second-year tenure of the governor.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Asaba, the State capital,
Ashibogwu said the State governor had shown unwavering commitment towards the realisation of the MORE Agenda of the State government and appreciated him for his vision and insights in turning the State into a construction site.
He enjoined Deltans to continue to support the governor and assured them of more development across all sectors in the State.
Ashibogwu also used the medium to reel out some of the achievements of the Ministry of Primary Education since the inception of the present administration in the State.
“Your Excellency, on behalf of the Ministry of Primary Education, I congratulate you on this day as you clock two years in office as the governor of our dear State.
“Your unwavering commitment towards the actualization of the MORE Agenda has been visible to Deltans and you have demonstrated uncommon feat in governance.
“Delta State has become construction site, not only on roads construction and maintenance but also in building of bridges, houses and other infrastructural needs in the State,” Ashibogwu said.
“As a ministry, we have intervened in over 200 public primary schools, more than six schools in each of the 25 Local Government areas of the State.
“The intervention varies in each school as it depends on the need of such schools.
“In some schools, we constructed new buildings, in some others, we renovated, in some we provided perimeter fencing, in some, we provided pupils desks and teachers chairs and tables, and in some security houses were provided.
“Secondly, to address the issue of shortage of teachers in our primary schools, with the approval of the State government in conjunction with SUBEB, we recruited over 3000 teachers in October, 2023.
“Also, the ministry has registered and issued operational licenses to over 200 private primary schools and has also embarked on inspection of over 200 public and private primary schools to ensure standards in the State.
“Again this year’s registration of candidates for the Cognitive/Placement examination was done online, unlike before when it was done offline and manual and concerned officers were trained and the positive outcomes were seen in the last examination conducted on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
“Furthermore, in compliance with the zero-tolerance of the present administration on extortions of any form, the ministry relieved five head teachers of their duties as heads of schools for collecting unapproved levies.
“Just last month, we awarded deserving pupils for their exemplary performance in the 2024 Primary Five Mathematics Competition, Science competition and exhibition,” the commissioner said.
He congratulated the governor and enjoined Deltans to give the governor the expected to deliver on his electoral promises.
