The Asagba of Asaba, Asagba Prof Epiphany Azinge has called for more primary and secondary schools in Asaba to cater for the growing population of the city.
He said that the community was ready to provide lands, if the government requests for that purpose.
The monarch made the call at the official handing over ceremony of 200 chairs and desk and 1,000 notebooks donated by ASDEV 81 Club of Asaba, USA chapter to Ahabam Primary school, Asaba.
He explained that Asaba presently was growing exponentially in numbers with the influx of non indigenes and businesses because of its peaceful nature and appealed to the government of the day to look into building more schools, both primary and secondary schools as to decongest the old schools and create more conducive environment for learning for it’s Citizens..
Asagba Azinge explained that Asaba community under his leadership will soon support 100 pupils and students of Asaba extractions with a back to school package of N50,000 each to enable them return to school refreshed and encouraged, assuring that the palace will do everything within its powers to support education to the best of its ability.
He appreciated the ASDEV 81 Club of Asaba, USA chapter for the wonderful initiatives of making donations to the school.
“It gives me great pleasure to be here to witness this epochal event of the donation of 200 chairs and desk and of course 1000 notebooks to Ahabam Primary school. I am happy to note that this is very much in line with improvements of social infrastructures that we have been trying to build since my ascension to the throne,
”I note with satisfaction that this is not my first time here, we have been here before, To observe at first hand the way our pupils are studying in this environment, the facilities available to them at their disposal, and how they have been coping with their studies and also a follow up from our earlier visit, where we made donations of various books amongst others. So coming back for this undertaking is quite gratifying”, he said.
He charged the Headmistress of Ahabam Primary School, Mrs Elizabeth Echenua to make proper management of the items as donated to enable it serve its purpose, and urged other clubs and associations within Asaba to emulate the good gesture as it concerns bringing development to the community.
Earlier, the Chairman of ASDEV 81 Club of Asaba, USA chapter, ably represented by Ogbueshi Ephraim Okotcha explained that the gesture was born out of the deep belief of giving back to the community that raised them.
He explained that it was just the beginning as the club was ready to make a positive impact in the lives of Asaba citizens and also upgrade learning infrastructures.
Also, the Commissioner of Primary Education, Hon Kingsley Ashibogwu appreciated ASDEV 81 Club of Asaba USA chapter for the wonderful initiatives, He explained that this initiative will help inspire the pupils and teachers to give their best to their collective duties.

Headmistress of Ahabam primary school Asaba, Mrs Elizabeth Echeuna sincerely appreciated ASDEV 81 Club for the wonderful initiative, show of support to education, and assured that the donated items would be adequately used and protected for the benefit of the society.
The ceremony ended with the official unveiling of the chairs and notebooks by HRM Asagba Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN.
