Asaba/Benin Expressway: Asagba Urges Construction Firm To Speed Up Work

THE Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Azinge SAN, has charged the contractor handling the rehabilitation of the failed portions of the Asaba end of the Asaba-Benin expressway, Hartland Nigeria Limited, to expedite action on the project as the Yuletide approaches.

The Monarch made the call weekend when he visited the project site for an on-the-spot assessment of the progress made.

The Asagba noted that the job had dragged for too long, causing untold hardship to motorists, most of whom had taken Asaba internal roads as alternative routes.

He noted that heavy duty trucks and petroleum products tankers, had caused considerable damage to the internal roads, as well as exposed residence to the risks of accident and explosion, stressing that the situation could not longer be endured.

Asagba Prof Azinge remarked that though work had commenced, speed was of essence, insisting that the rains could not have been responsible for the delay because with modern technology the weather should not be much of a problem to road work.

He reminded the contractor that the road usually experienced heavy vehicular traffic during the Christmas season and not fixing it before the season sets in would not be a good narrative for the Federal Government, just as it would continue to cause pains to the road users

The Asagba was received by the Project Manager, Engr. Rawad Yehya. The Monarch was also at the Abraka end of Dennis Osadebay Way, where he frowned at the non commencement of rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of the road awarded to Roadwell Contracting Ltd.
