THE Executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 11, Isiokolo in Ethiope East Local Government Area, have pledged an unwavering support for Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in recognition of his inclusive leadership and developmental strides across the state.
The pledge was made during a meeting hosted by the Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof Nyerhovwo Tonukari, at his country home in Isiokolo.
The gathering brought together party executives, elders, and stakeholders in what was described as a cordial and unifying interaction aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structure and fostering collective progress.
Addressing the Ward 11 Exco members, Prof Tonukari expressed deep appreciation to the original APC faithful for warmly welcoming new members who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said their spirit of inclusion and cooperation demonstrated the party’s growing unity and political maturity at the grassroots level.
“Ward 11 is unique in many ways, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that we continue to work together for the greater good of our people,” Tonukari said.
“I am particularly grateful to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his commitment to development in Ethiope East and for ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach our communities.”
The Commissioner announced that construction work had officially commenced on the Ekpan– Ovu–Erhoike Road, describing the project as a major step toward improving transportation and economic activities in the area.
He thanked Governor Oborevwori for approving the project, which he said would transform the lives of residents and open up new opportunities for the people of Isiokolo and its environs.
Speaking further, Prof. Tonukari called on party members to sustain their support for the state government and remain steadfast in promoting unity within the APC, stressing that political cooperation and peace at the grassroots would accelerate development and ensure the party’s growth ahead of future elections.
On his part, the APC Ward 11 Chairman, Mr Roji Lawrence, commended the Commissioner for his exemplary leadership and tireless efforts in bringing development to the ward.
He described the meeting as historic, noting that it marked a new chapter of collaboration and political awareness among party members.
Lawrence also encouraged the Exco to continue mobilising support for the government and enlightening members on recent developments within the party, particularly on policies that directly benefit the grassroots.
The meeting, which was held in a warm and convivial atmosphere, ended with renewed commitments from the party’s leadership to work in synergy with Prof Tonukari and the Oborevwori administration to advance the interests of Isiokolo and the entire Ethiope East constituency.
It further reinforced the APC’s growing influence in Ward 11 and highlighted Prof. Tonukari’s resolve to maintain strong political and developmental ties with his constituents, ensuring that the community remains a strategic player in Delta State’s political landscape.
