Agbor Community Union Inaugurates Panel For Youth Polls

THE Agbor Community Union (ACU) has taken a significant step towards conducting free and fair elections for its youth wing with the inauguration of a five-man electoral committee. The meeting, held at the Agbor Community Hall, saw prominent members of the community appointed to oversee the electoral process.

Barrister Chukwuemeke Ogbuobodo was named Chairman of the committee, while Mr Jude Erikpume was appointed Secretary. Other members of the committee are Dr Ichazu Kingsley, Comrade Tony Ekam Egede, and Mr Osabu Godwin, who will work together to ensure a smooth and transparent election process.

In his address, the President-General of the ACU, Professor Onyemaechi Ugoh, charged the committee members to discharge their duties without fear or favour and in strict adherence to the union’s constitution. He stressed the importance of fairness and integrity in the electoral process, urging the committee to uphold the values of the ACU.

Professor Ugoh further announced that the chairmanship position of the youth wing had been zoned to Ekuku Agbor, in line with the union’s zoning arrangement. This, he said, is to ensure equitable representation and inclusivity within the community’s leadership structure.

The newly inaugurated Chairman, Barrister Ogbuobodo, expressed gratitude for the trust reposed in him and assured the community of a credible and peaceful election. He pledged that the committee would work diligently to uphold democratic principles and deliver a transparent process.

The youth wing elections are expected to be held in the coming weeks, with strong interest from stakeholders in Agbor. The ACU leadership has called on all eligible youths to participate actively and peacefully in the exercise.
