Agbi Inspects Projects, Commends Quality Works At Uzere-Asaba-Ase Bridge

In a move to ensure the realization of the “MORE Agenda” of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Projects Monitoring and Audit, Engr. Goodnews Agbi, has conducted an extensive inspection of several multi-billion naira projects across Delta State.

The inspection tour, which included a team of seasoned engineers, was aimed at ensuring that all ongoing projects meet the highest standards of quality and demonstrate “value for money” for the citizens of the state.

Dr. Agbi emphasized that his office was “on its toes” to critically evaluate every site to ensure proper project execution.

At the 10km Aboh-Akara road, featuring a critical 100-meter bridge construction, the contractor on-site, Mr. Ligha of LabTech Construction Company, highlighted the technical challenges of the terrain, noting that equipment mobilization has been difficult and filling levels in some areas reach depths of 180-190.

Despite these hurdles, Mr. Ligha assured the Special Adviser that the project was on track for completion within the year 2026.
On potential community interference raised by Engr. Philip Ogboma (CPU), the contractor confirmed that all community challenges had been successfully resolved, and both skilled and unskilled workers resumed work after the holiday season.

The team also visited the Kwale Free Trade Zone (KFTZ), where Dr. Agbi noted that the project was strategically positioned to become a major hub for energy, petrochemicals, agro-processing, and manufacturing.

At the NGIC and Delta Wire at the Kwale Gathering Hub, Engr. Anthony Arum of the Nigerian Gas Investment Company (NGIC) informed the team of the core mandate which include Energy Metering and Gas policy monitoring.

The tour also extended to the Phoenix Company and Delta Wire Company, where the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Engr. Erah Prosper, compelled the General Manager, Mr. Jairamesh, to provide a definitive timeline for the commencement of nail and rod production. Although a specific kick-off month was not provided, the monitoring team insisted on a swift transition to full operations to boost the state’s economy.
One of the highlights of the tour was the Uzere Asaba -Ase Road Bridge project. The site engineer, Engr Tunde briefed the team that six of the 12 required “gallops” (bridge piers) have been casted, with the remaining columns expected to be ready following the standard 28-day curing period.

Consequently, Engr Agbi gave the contractors a high rating for their neat and perfect engineering work.He expressed confidence that the high standard of work seen at Uzere would be replicated at the newly started site in Aboh, being handled by the same construction firm.

“Our mission is to ensure that every project across the State is properly evaluated and delivered to the highest standard as the Governor’s MORE Agenda demands excellence, and we will continue to monitor every site to ensure those expectations are met
