Abude Street Residents Lauds Oborevwori For Drainage Construction

BY JUDITH OBIANUA

THE Residents of Christ Abude Street, across Asaba-Benin expressway, opposite former Federal Road Safety (FRSC) office, Asaba, have  commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori over the on-going construction of drainage system along the street.

In an interview with The Pointer, Mr. Chinedu Ose, a laundry shop owner, expressed excitement over the on going construction work.

“I sincerely appreciate the governor for remembering this area, this road has been in bad shape, it used to be flooded whenever it rains especially the entrance of the street, you can not come in through the junction one must divert to the other street before you can go out”

“With this now the problem of diversion is solved, to tackle flood, drainage system is the first thing to do before rehabilitation of road. The drainage is going to be two sides, left and right side of the road then tarring of the road proper, at least the road will be accessible during the raining season”, he added

Also speaking in the same vein, Mrs. Gift Akpese, a shop owner said that the development was for their own benefit despite the fact that some shop owners have not been able to resume business due to the work, but they were still happy.

“Development is a good thing, we are seeing the impact although some properties are being destroyed but the government compensated the owners, as you can see they broke some fence and they will break more as the work  progresses. I heard from the right source that those that their properties were destroyed have  been compensated by the government, someone close to me is one of them”, she added.

Akpese reaffirmed that the area used to be flooded during the rains due to lack of  drainage  but with the new development the road will be accessible from now on.
