The Minister of the Federal Ministry of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has emphasized that the Ministry maintains an ‘open-book’ policy regarding project execution and welcomes any necessary scrutiny by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to transparent project execution, ensuring that all records are open for audit.
The Minister made this assertion during a press briefing at the ministry’s Abuja headquarters yesterday.
He stated that relevant procurement rules were strictly adhered to.
“We are not hiding anything because we feel for the people. Any file they want, any information, is available. That is how it should be.”
“There is nothing we do in the Ministry of Works that we cannot defend. We moved from asphalt to concrete to ensure roads last up to 100 years with minimal maintenance.” he said.
Umahi therefore urged journalist on news/information verification before reporting.
