As part its mandate to improving the welfare of oil producing communities, the member representing the Ukwuani ethnic nationality on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Surv. Azuka Enebeli, has commenced the rehabilitation of internal roads in Umutu–Umuaja, Ukwuani LGA of Delta State.
Some of the roads slated for rehabilitation include Omenma Enuma Street, Chief Kelvin Otulugbu Street, Chief Abel Azaka Street, Olile Street, Eneliku Street, Chief John Eke Close, and Nebolise Street.
The project, which began recently in Umutu and stretches toward Umuaja, aims to address the long-standing deterioration of the roads that has posed difficulties for residents, motorists, and traders who rely on the route for daily movement and economic activities.
According to Enebeli, the rehabilitation was initiated in response to appeals from community members who have endured poor road conditions for years.
He explained that the intervention is in line with DESOPADEC’s mandate to deliver development projects and improve the living conditions of oil-producing communities in the state.
Residents and stakeholders in the Ukwuani area have welcomed the development, noting that the improved road will enhance access between communities, reduce travel time, boost economy and agricultural transportation.
