Ibusa–Ogwashi-Uku Road Crash Claims Four

At least four persons have been reported dead following a late-night road crash involving a Toyota Venza and a trailer at the Ogbowele roundabout along the Ibusa–Ogwashi-Uku Road, Delta State.

The accident, which occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on Friday, reportedly involved a Toyota Venza with registration number LSD-630KE, which slammed into a stationary trailer under circumstances yet to be officially clarified.

Social media reports attributed the crash to speeding and reckless driving, claiming that the victims were three brothers and a friend. As of press time, no official statement had been released by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) or the police confirming the identities of the deceased.

The incident has sparked renewed public outrage over dangerous driving and weak enforcement of traffic regulations. Reacting to the tragedy, a social media user, @okohanthonyo, called for stiffer penalties for reckless drivers and stricter licensing processes.

“Until people start going to jail for reckless driving, Nigerians won’t change. Until reckless drivers are permanently disqualified and FRSC makes getting a driver’s licence merit-based after proper training, nothing will change. The painful part is the innocent lives that also get lost,” he wrote.

Another user, @charliedblackboy, blamed what he described as a growing culture of careless driving among young motorists, calling for tighter controls in the sale and use of vehicles.

“I’ve seen multiple accidents involving young drivers. Government should insist that anyone buying a car must present a valid driver’s licence and proof of proper training,” he stated. Authorities are yet to issue an official briefing on the incident.
