Yuletide: No Leniency For Troublemakers, DTSG Warns

DIRECTOR-General on Security Matters in Delta State, Hon. David Tonwe, has issued a firm warning, cautioning individuals and groups against acts capable of destabilising peace. He stressed that the festive period will be closely monitored to ensure residents enjoy a safe and crime-free celebration.

According to the DG on Security, the Delta Operation Sweep operatives have been fully deployed across strategic locations. The agency emphasised that security personnel will not hesitate to apprehend anyone attempting to breach public order or threaten the safety of citizens during the festivities.

The warning specifically targets rising concerns about drug abuse, cult-related activities, kidnapping and other forms of social violence. Tonwe noted that these vices, often heightened during festive periods, will be met with strong resistance from the security operatives assigned to maintain peace across the state.

“Anyone caught engaging in acts of illegality should consider it a direct affront to the state,” the statement said, underscoring that violators will face the full wrath of the law. Security operatives, Tonwe added, have been placed on high alert and mandated to ensure zero tolerance for criminal activities.

Parents and guardians were also advised to take responsibility for the conduct of their children and wards during the season. The DG urged families to maintain vigilance at home and ensure that young people are not lured into behaviours that could endanger their future or disrupt public peace.

The DG further reiterated his commitment to safeguarding all communities throughout the holidays, assuring residents of a robust security presence.

“This season should be one of joy, not fear,” the statement concluded, appealing for cooperation from the public as the state intensifies efforts to curb antisocial behaviour.
