THE Delta State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr Daniel Odinigwe, has described the Delta Tech Xperience (DTX) as a transformative platform that enables innovators to showcase their work, connect with investors, and demonstrate the real-world impact of technology across multiple sectors.
Speaking on activities that marked Days Two and Three of Delta Tech Week, Dr Odinigwe said the programme spotlighted sustainability, clean energy, and the future of work, aligning with the overarching theme, “Technology for Sustainability: Powering Innovation and Clean Energy”, while Day Four was centred around celebrating Women in Tech.
The week-long event was open to students, young innovators, tech enthusiasts, and individuals seeking to explore or transition into digital careers.
According to him, technology remained a rapidly evolving driver of global development, and Delta State was committed to equipping its youths with the skills and exposure needed to seize emerging opportunities.
The Commissioner highlighted that today’s activities would feature DELFest, a Google Developers Group (GDG) backed event, which would also mark the official close of Delta Tech Week.
He added that the summit was also organised to attract investors, bankers, and private stakeholders ready to support promising solutions. Participants were encouraged to present well-developed ideas and products, as investment interest will depend largely on the quality of innovations displayed.
Dr Odinigwe assured attendees of the state government’s unwavering commitment to fostering a safe, credible, and innovation-friendly environment.
“By hosting Delta Tech Week, the state signals to investors that local innovators are recognised and backed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, making their ventures legitimate and secure for investment,” he said.
In his remarks, the Chief of Staff, Hon. Johnson Erijo, represented by Mr Samuel Ulebe, affirmed the State Government’s full support for the DTX summit.
He described the event as a valuable platform for participants to connect with tech experts, learn, and build solid foundations for future opportunities. He also commended theMinistry for ensuring the programme’s success and urged participants to stay focused to maximise the benefits.
Exhibitors from organisations including the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), Interswitch, 1 Time Shop, Schoolville, Coriftech Solutions Limited, and Olili Foods applauded the State Government and the Ministry for creating a platform that empowers Deltans and contributes to the growth of the local tech ecosystem.
