THE First Lady of Delta State, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, yesterday commissioned the Tobore Oborevwori Cottage Hospital built by the Ughelli North Local Government Council, describing the gesture as a great honour and a significant investment in grassroots healthcare delivery.
Speaking at the event held at the council headquarters, Deaconess Oborevwori expressed profound appreciation for the recognition, noting that the naming of the hospital after her was an honour she did not take for granted.
“It gladdens my heart to know that my little works are being recognized.
With this inauguration today, we celebrate the gift of accessible healthcare for our people,” she stated.
She commended the Chairman, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Olorogun Barr. Jaro Egbo, for prioritizing the welfare of the people, adding that he was “working rightly in the shoes of his boss, the Governor of Delta State.”
The First Lady also highlighted ongoing reforms in the state’s health sector, including the reduction of the cost of dialysis from ₦75,000 to ₦40,000 and the provision of dialysis machines in key health facilities across Delta State by the Governor.
According to her, these interventions reflect the administration’s resolve to ease the financial burden on citizens and expand access to quality medical services. Deaconess Oborevwori further reiterated the commitment of the You Matter Charity Foundation (YMCF) to the well-being of vulnerable groups, especially children with special needs.
She described such children as “special gifts from God,” and urged communities to embrace inclusive development.
The First Lady urged other council chairmen to emulate such example and strive for community development centered projects. While calling for the protection of the hospital, Dcns Oborevworri appealed to residents to avoid vandalism and ensure that the facility is used responsibly so it can serve the community effectively.
“As I inaugurate this hospital today, let it stand as a beacon of hope and healing for humanity,” she added.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman, Olorogun Jaro Egbo, said the project was conceived as part of the council’s agenda to reposition the health sector and ensure that every resident of the LGA had access to affordable and reliable medical care.
In his words, “This medical facility is fully equipped with state-of-the art healthcare infrastructure, modern diagnostic equipment and a well -structured service layout designed to meet the evolving needs of our growing population. “Beyond serving as a primary healthcare centre, this hospital is built to function as a referral hub for other health centers within the local government”, he said.
He extended his appreciation to the Governor for his support and for creating an enabling environment for his leadership to thrive.
The commissioning ceremony also featured an inspection of the hospital’s wards, diagnostic units, and the ambulance attached to the facility.
