Yuletide: Use Recognised Motor Parks, DTSG Urges Passengers

BY ANITA UCHE-CHUKWUMA

THE Delta State Government has called on passengers and motorists to patronise only recognised and approved motor parks as travel activities heighten during the festive period.

The Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Onoriode Agofure, made the appeal to Deltans and residents alike, noting that the ember months and yuletide season typically records increased human and vehicular movement, which often results in traffic congestion and higher risk of road-related incidents.

He emphasised that using only government-recognised motor parks guarantees safer and more organised boarding points, ensures that vehicles are properly documented and reduced the risk of criminal activities commonly associated with roadside loading Agofure further stressed that recognised motor parks operate under strict supervision and adhere to established safety standards—measures he described, as vital to preventing avoidable accidents and safeguarding passengers’ lives.

He also appealed to commercial drivers, transport unions, and private motorists to cooperate with transport authorities and comply strictly with all safety guidelines put in place for the season.

The directorate reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing road safety across the state, adding that enforcement teams will intensify monitoring to ensure full compliance with traffic regulations.

The state government urged members of the public to prioritise safety by choosing recognised motor parks and remaining vigilant throughout the festive period.
