Amori Hails Oborevwori’s N1.664trn ‘People’s Budget

…Says Delta Enters Era of Massive Development

The Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ighoyota Amori, has described the 2026 Appropriation Bill presented by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as a “People’s Budget” that clearly reflects the wishes and aspirations of Deltans for infrastructure, human capital development and inclusive growth.

Amori in a statement released by his Public Relations Officer, Joelson Wilson, said the governor’s decision to allocate 70 per cent of the over N1.664 trillion budget to capital expenditure demonstrates a “bold, people-focused and future-ready leadership that places development above politics.”

“This is the kind of budget Deltans have been asking for; a budget that puts roads, schools, hospitals and jobs ahead of rhetoric. With 70 per cent committed to capital projects, the Oborevwori administration has sent a clear signal that Delta is open for accelerated development and inclusive prosperity,” Amori said.

The Chief Adviser noted that the “Budget of Accelerating the M.O.R.E Agenda,” which was presented to the Delta State House of Assembly, captures the most critical sectors of the state’s economy, from infrastructure and education to health and revenue reform, describing it as an all-round development blueprint.

“What His Excellency has achieved in Delta State so far is highly unexpected in terms of speed, scale and impact. I am personally proud to be associated with an administration that continues to exceed public expectation and rewrite the narrative of governance in our state,” he added.

Amori said the heavy investment in key sectors such as road infrastructure, education and healthcare is proof of an administration determined to grow the economy, improve living standards and reduce social inequality. He highlighted that the administration’s focus on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) reforms and improved federal allocations would strengthen fiscal sustainability and deepen development.

The Chief Adviser also used the occasion to call on critics and opposition figures to place the interest of Delta State above politics.

“Those who distract and oppose without facts should embrace the governor’s visible roadmap to success and join hands in building Delta, rather than spreading propaganda. Anyone making noise from outside the state should come in, visit Delta and see the transformation for themselves,” he said.

According to him, the Oborevwori administration is setting records by executing multiple landmark projects simultaneously across the state; a feat he described as “unprecedented in Delta’s history.”

“This is the first time Delta is witnessing such volume and quality of projects running concurrently. The progress has not stopped from day one, and it will not stop now. Delta is moving forward, and no amount of political noise can stop this development journey,” Amori stressed.

He urged Deltans to continue supporting the governor’s leadership, noting that the 2026 budget represents not just a financial plan, but a social contract between the government and the people to deliver lasting development.

“This budget is about people, progress and the future. It is a budget of hope, growth and confidence in tomorrow,” he added.

Amori reaffirmed that the Chief Adviser’s Office remains committed to supporting the governor’s vision and ensuring that the goals of the MORE Agenda translate into measurable benefits for citizens across the state.
