Delta First Lady’s Philanthropy Attracts Support

…As DPPC GM Keys Into Initiative

BY EVELYN ZORZOR/RITA OYIBOKA
The charitable initiatives of the wife of the Delta State Governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, are attracting support from public-spirited individuals who share her passion for uplifting the less privileged through the You Matter Charity Foundation.

This was evident when the General Manager of the Delta Printing and Publishing Corporation (DPPC), publishers of The Pointer Newspapers, Mrs Rosemary Nwaebuni, visited the First Lady with items in support of her empowerment programmes for widows and other vulnerable groups in society.

During the visit, Dcns Oborevwori, who is the Founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation, commended Mrs Nwaebuni for her magnanimity and support towards the less privileged.

Deaconess Oborevwori, represented by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mrs Alicia Omoni, expressed gratitude to the DPPC General Manager for identifying with the vision of the foundation, which focuses on improving the lives of widows, orphans, and other vulnerable groups in society.

She said, “Because of what we do at the You Matter Charity Foundation, where everyone matters, it means a lot to us when people come to support the vision. We are grateful for your gifts and assure you that they will get to the members of society who need them most.”

While commending Mrs Nwaebuni for her outstanding performance at DPPCL, the First Lady described women in leadership positions as exemplary pace-setters who continue to inspire others through service and compassion.

In her remarks, Mrs Nwaebuni said her donation stemmed from her desire to give back to society, adding that she was impressed by the impactful activities of the First Lady across the state.

According to her, “Widowhood comes with deep sadness, and this is our way of putting smiles on their faces and showing them that they are not alone. Many of them often wonder how they will cope.

‘’But this is just our little way of saying, ‘You are not in it alone.’ We are behind you and will always support you in any way we can to bring joy to your hearts. We do this not only during the festive period but at any time, and not just for widows.

‘’There are also women and individuals who, though not widows, are less privileged. So, whatever we can do, especially at this time when God Almighty has given us the gift of our Saviour, we do it in the spirit of giving and compassion.

“Even though I am here on an individual basis, as part of my personal effort to give back to society, I deemed it fit to offer my widow’s mite to support the good work of your office. It is my prayer that the foundation continues to grow stronger and that testimonies from its beneficiaries become even louder.”
