The Delta State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Daniel Odinigwe, has been honoured by the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS) Delta State Chapter, for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of information and communication technology in Delta State.
The award was presented during the society’s recent gathering in Asaba, where key stakeholders, ICT professionals, and government representatives converged to discuss the future of technology development in the state.
In his remarks, Dr. Odinigwe expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Computer Society for the recognition, reaffirming the state government’s unwavering commitment to promoting technological innovation and digital inclusion in the State.
The Commissioner congratulated the newly inaugurated chairman of the society, Mr. Charles Omordia, for his visionary leadership and dedication to strengthening the ICT ecosystem in Delta State. He noted that under Mr. Omordia’s leadership, the society was well-positioned to foster collaboration among professionals and drive meaningful growth in the digital space.
Dr. Odinigwe also commended members of the society for their initiatives, particularly one led by Mr. Richard, which he described as a commendable step toward expanding technological awareness and innovation. He assured that the Ministry of Science and Technology would continue to support such forward-looking efforts.
“I’m sure you saw from our Google message we, the Ministry of Science and Technology, representing Delta State, will always support good initiatives like that, which actually bring the people of Delta State closer and closer to technology,” he said.
Dr. Odinigwe, who shared light-hearted moments with the audience, also acknowledged long-time colleagues and associates present at the event. “My classmate is also sitting next to me; we went to school together. I graduated in Computer Science, so it’s good to be here,” he added, drawing laughter and applause.
The event, which celebrated innovation, collaboration, and excellence in the ICT sector, featured keynote presentations, networking sessions, and recognitions of individuals and organisations contributing to technological growth.
