The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, has announced a special session with current lawmakers and former members of the State Assembly, referred to as non-sitting members of the House.
Guwor who announced the planned event at plenary, said the session will take place from Wednesday, November 12 to Friday, November 14, in Asaba, the state capital.
Expected attendees include the State Governor and former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and other former speakers, including Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro, Rt. Hon. Kent Omatsone, Rt. Hon. Martins Okonta, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya, Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana, Rt. Hon. Frank Enekorogha, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya and Rt. Hon. Olise Imegwu. The Speaker at the plenary constituted a five-man Committee, headed by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, to oversee the special parley.
Other members include Hon. Austin Uroye, Perkins Umukoro, Festus Utuama, and Bridget Anyafulu, with Deputy Clerk, Administration, Mr. Smart Edoge, serving as Secretary.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, highlighted the significance of the special session and its potential impact on the state legislature, governance and development.
“The Speaker’s visionary leadership is evident in initiating this special session with former members of the House. This gesture underscores his commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive legislative environment.”
The CPS said the session promises to leverage the wealth of experience and expertise of former lawmakers, as well as provide valuable insights.
