The Delta State Police Command has announced fresh breakthroughs in its ongoing fight against crime, with operatives arresting a suspected cultist and armed robbers in separate operations, recovering firearms and ammunition.
The command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, disclosed this in a press statement issued over the weekend by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright.
According to the statement, “operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team and Safe Delta operatives, in three different operations, arrested suspected cultists, armed robbers, and recovered their firearms.”
On September 10, 2025, acting on credible intelligence relating to cult activities in Ibusa Town, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) trailed and arrested Oluwatobi Olugbemi, 29, a native of Ikenne-Remo in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State but resident at Ogboli Quarters, Ibusa.
A search warrant executed at his residence led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol loaded with one round of ammunition.
“The suspect confessed to being a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as ‘Arrow Barger, ’” the police statement said. Investigations are ongoing.
On September 9, 2025, operatives of Safe Delta, while on surveillance patrol along DBS Road, Asaba, sighted a group of boys fighting, one of them armed with a cutlass. The operatives swiftly intervened, arresting Raphael Chukwuemeka, 23. A cut-to-size double-barrelled pistol with seven live cartridges was recovered from him.
In another operation, on September 10, 2025, at about 10:30 a.m., Safe Delta operatives on stop-and-search duty at Head Bridge, Asaba, intercepted three young men: Solomon Offor (22), Ifesinachi Nwankeze (19), and Ambrose Ugwuba (23).
Upon searching the suspects and their motorcycle, police recovered a locally made single-barrel cut-to-size gun, cartridges, and a dagger concealed in a bag. The suspects are currently in custody, while investigations continue.
