Delta Contributory Health Scheme: Lions Club International To Enrol 200 Less Privileged

The Lions Club International District 404-A4 has promised to enrol 200 indigent Deltans for the State Contributory Health Scheme.

The District Governor, Lion (Dr.) Robinson Omonigho-Okoro, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Director General of the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme, Olorogun (Dr.) Isaac Akpoveta, in Asaba.

Lion Omonigho-Okoro said his cardinal focus in the next one year in office as District Governor of the Club would be to carry out awareness and treatment of diabetes, poor vision, mental challenge and High Blood Pressure, with emphasis on the less privileged.

He noted that many lives had been lost to some ailments due to ignorance which were not detected early enough, and expressed his desire to support the health component of Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda so as to bring succour to the less privileged in the three senatorial districts.

“I am here today as the District Governor, District 404-A4 of Lions Club International to intimate you of my cardinal programmes within the next one year I will be in office, which includes; mainly creating awareness and treatment of diabetes, mental challenge, poor vision, High blood Pressure, among others.

“The Governor is trying his best in the health sector and Lions Club being a humanitarian body is willing to partner with the state government by enrolling 200 less privileged persons, including those living with disabilities, for the Contributory Health Scheme across the three senatorial district of the state.

“We will work with you to get the people that truly deserve to be enrolled in the scheme”, he added.

Responding, the Director General of the Scheme, Olorogun (Dr.) Isaac Akpoveta, said he was highly elated to receive the Lions Club members in his office and thanked the team for pledging to collaborate with the state government in tackling some health challenges in the state.

Dr Akpoveta pledged the Commission’s support for the Club towards profiling the 200 persons who truly deserved to benefit from the scheme, while calling on well meaningful Deltans to take up the plan and also sponsor more indigent people in the state.

The DG disclosed that a total of 2.6 million Deltans had so far enrolled in the scheme
