The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has set up two registration centres in each of the 25 local government areas of Delta State, and the State Head office in Asaba, to execute the physical aspect of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), in Delta State, Sir Etekamba Umoren, stated this in Asaba, when he led management team to supervise the Day-1 of the physical registration exercise in Oshimili South and Aniocha South local government areas of the state.
Sir Etekamba Umoren said equipment and materials have been delivered to all registration centres, noting the commission has trained personnel for a detailed execution of the Continuous Voter registration activity.
He stressed the importance of the Voters Card in the electoral process and urge those who are eligible to register online, and update their voter details.
REC emphasized that the exercise is for those who are yet to register; those who have misplaced their voters card, to get voters card.
Also, the state Head of Department Voter Education, Mrs Nseabasi Udom, explained that the exercise was meant for those who have attained the voting age of 18years; others who have never registered, and those who intend to make changes to their voter information.
She observed that persons with defaced cards can use their devices to do same without going for recapturing.
“But the people that we need to go for that recapturing are the fresh registrants.”
