A respected indigene of Uvwie Kingdom, Chief Ejiro Erifevieme, has called on Warri, Uvwie Environs Special Development Agency (WUEDA) to solve the perennial flood problem in the Government Reservation Area (GRA) of Effurun, Uvwie local government area .
Erifevieme, who bears the title of ‘Orotere‘ of Uvwie Kingdom made the call in an exclusive media chat with our correspondent in Effurun at the weekend.
He noted with great displeasure that the Ovie of Uvwie Palace, St. Jude Catholic Church, Local Government Secretariat and the premises of High Courts of GRA, Effurun were always flooded with water several hours after any heavy downpour.
Erifevieme also complained that the situation of the flood at the gate of the palace was an embarrassment to the chiefs and people of the kingdom.
He opined that the palace of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom is one of the best palaces in the state but lamented that the entrance to the palace was always flooded with water when it rains heavily.
He stressed that the ugly development has caused a lot of embarrassments to the people any time there was an occasion in the palace.
The Orotere of Uvwie Kingdom made a similar complain about the entrances of the four High Court premises, as well as the only road leading to Uvwie Local Government Secretariat.
“The GRA, Effurun needs a better drainage system that will solve this flood problem. That is why I am calling on the Warri, Uvwie Environs Special Development Agency to do something urgently about it”. he added.
