IN a bid to strengthen collaboration between the Post Primary Education Board (PPEB) and professional school counsellors in Delta State, the Counselling Association of Nigeria, Delta State Chapter, has paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of PPEB, Prof. Emmanuel Tibi, at the Board’s Headquarters in Asaba
Leading the delegation, the state Chairman of the association, Dr. Peters Agamugoro, expressed appreciation to Prof. Tibi for making time to receive the team despite his tight schedule.
He highlighted key challenges confronting school counsellors across the state, particularly the need for increased professional recognition and better integration into the education system.
Dr. Agamugoro also proposed a capacity-building workshop and called for a strategic partnership between the Association and the Board.
Responding, the PPEB Boss, Prof. Emmanuel Tibi described the visit as both timely and necessary, saying it underscored the crucial role of counsellors in promoting students’ wellbeing and academic performance
Prof Tibi , who He lamented that many remain underutilized in schools, however reiterated the Board’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for counsellors to thrive and emphasized the need for collaboration with relevant educational agencies.
He also stressed the importance of sensitizing school principals on the relevance of guidance and counselling, alongside the need for continued training to align with evolving global trends, especially in Earlier, the association’s Secretary, Ms. Iroro Oyearone, had expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception and the chairman’s openness to support future initiatives.
