Delta Government Beckons Investors

…Lists Peace, One Tax Shop, Others As Ideal Conditions

DELTA State Government, has urged local and international investors to  come to the state,  owing to the abundance of incentives, such as peace and security, one tax shop, land provision, among other favourable conditions.

The state Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis OkenmorTilije said this during a forum hosted by the state government in conjunction with the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) created by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,.

The forum tagged “State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) Technical Session and Statewide Town Hall meeting’, was held on Monday, at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.

Tilije declared that the state, through the laudable Ease of Doing Business Reforms by the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration, is ready to host businesses and investors across various sectors for optimum profitability.

Tilijesaid that “Delta State is the home of people who want to do good business. We are ensuring that those who come to do business in Delta do so profitably.”

“Delta had won four awards in the area of Ease of Doing Business, which means that we are ready for business in order to increase the state’s GDP.”

“Today, we are number one in oil production in the country. That economic dominance is visible to all”, Tilije said, adding that “we are a big economy state.”

Tilijeadded that “alot has been put together by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to ensure peace, as well as other factors favourable to business and investment throughout the state.”

Tilije informed that to show how serious the state is in Ease of Doing Business Reforms, Governor Oborevwori is the head of a committee to that effect.

Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, was filled by members of numerous business associations, including NASI, NAWE, NURTW, AFAN, DACIMA, MAN, Association of Exporters, among others.

A panel was moderated by Chris Ekanem who represented the DG of PEBEC, Princess ZahrahAudu. Panelists comprised of critical stakeholders, including DG of Delta State Investment Development Agency (DIDA), Hon. EmekaElekeokuri, Delta State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Mr. Samuel Oligida, Executive Secretary/Chief Executive of Delta State Micro, Small and Medium scale Enterprises Development Agency (DEMSMEDA), Dr. Godwin Adolor, Prof. Frank Nwugo of DBIR, among others.

Highlights of their submissions included that all business and investment information about Delta State, comprising export opportunities, Diaspora or any other investment tips can be found at the Delta State Government website.

It was informed that DEMSMEDA holds weekly business clinics, while a robust training for small scale businesses on financial literacy and business viability was recently held across the three Senatorial districts of the state.

Adolor also informed to a huge applause by business associations that due to wide engagements by DEMSMEDA, the well-known Delta-born Stella Okotete has asked for 100 persons in the state to be assisted to go into export. Also, applications for land can be made to the State Economic Management Committee.

In addition, DBIR said Delta is now a one-tax shop with a centralized demand notice being issued to business operators in the state.

Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu took to the floor to address the concerns of business associations, assuring that while alot is being done, challenges  pointed out would be dealt with.

Dignitaries included commissioners, the State Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Minnie Oseji and a host of permanent secretaries.
