YOUTHS and indigenes of the Urhobo have been warned against making hasty and insolent remarks against the Urhobo apex socio -cultural organization, the Urhobo Progress Union, (UPU).
This position was handed down, yesterday, by the Urhobo National Youth Congress (UNYC) led by Apostle Moses Obayendo while reacting to the crises arising from the pipeline surveillance job slot by the Tantita security services to the Urhobo. The group added that no individual interest should be placed above the collective agenda of the organization.
According to him, the group described as worrisome and obnoxious a situation where youths or individual persons rush to the press to discredit the leadership of the umbrella body in matters that border on the entire ethnic nationality , stressing that such actions amount to arrant affront on the status of the socio cultural organization.
Condemning the trend, Obayendo held that rather than publicly castigate the umbrella body, he posited that better alternative sources of addressing internal issues and come out with articulated resolution in the interest of the entire people should be engaged instead of openly lambast the UPU, warning that such act of public embarrassment of the oldest socio cultural organization in Nigeria should stop henceforth.
Meanwhile, the UNYC, has expressly said it stand by the decision of the umbrella body under the leadership of Olorogun Ese Gam has admonished him to remain focus in piloting the affairs of the Urhobo Nation and not yield to distractions’ or blackmail.
This is even as the group has passed a vote of confidence on the Olorogun Ese Gam led UPU.
The group has however, commended the UPU Leaders for accepting to walk the path of dialogue with the Tantita Security Company as their new decision highlighting the gains acrued to the Urhobo people on such peaceful path.
