The recently published 2024 audited report of the Delta State Government in national newspapers accentuates Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to sustaining public confidence in service delivery and governance.
The Director-General of the State Bureau for Communications and Orientation, Barr Fred Oghenesivbe, made this assertion during a public affairs radio programme monitored in Asaba, the state capital.
He commended the Commissioner for Finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije, for the strict implementation of the watertight automated accounting system introduced by the Governor, assuring that the Oborevwori administration would continue to focus on result-oriented socio-economic remodelling, infrastructure development, peace-building, and enhanced security anchored on transparency and accountability.
Oghenesivbe stressed that the State Government executed a plethora of infrastructural projects in both urban and rural communities, cutting across Trunk A, B and C roads, including the 143-kilometre Ughelli–Asaba highway dualisation, the ongoing construction of three mega flyovers at strategic locations, and the allocation and disbursement of billions of Naira for infrastructure development across the 25 local government areas.
He added that 277,000 Deltans benefited from social welfare and empowerment under the D-CARES programme.
On the 2027 general elections and the recent wave of coalition among political parties, Oghenesivbe assured that Governor Oborevwori’s track record would speak volumes at the polls.
He noted that the Governor’s achievements within two years had exceeded the expectations of the people and expressed optimism that the next two years would surpass his midterm performance, which was celebrated statewide.
The Orientation Bureau Chief emphasised that over the past two years, Governor Oborevwori had demonstrated his capacity to build a new Delta that guarantees equal opportunity for all.
He noted that the Governor’s impressive performance had earned him several national awards, including Best Governor of the Year, Best Governor in Infrastructure Development, and Best Governor in Good Governance.
When asked about the spread of development across the state and the recent agitations by some individuals in the Udu Local Government Area, Oghenesivbe emphasised that the Governor’s leadership style is based on policies and actions that benefit all Deltans across the three senatorial districts.
He quoted the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Infrastructure, Mr Charles Aniagwu, who stated during a recent press briefing that several road projects were either ongoing or completed in the Udu Local Government Area.
These include the Aladja Floating Market, consisting of 220 shops designed to operate as both a day and night market with full illumination.
The Director-General further assured that any coalition of political parties would not pose a threat in Delta State. He expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori would win the 2027 presidential and governorship elections, citing good governance, prudent management of public resources, and commitment to economic growth and development as the basis for their expected victories.
“The published 2024 audited account of the Delta State Government attests to the flawless accountability and transparent leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. It shall be sustained.
“Deltans are happy and satisfied with the enviable performance of our amiable Governor. Coalition or no coalition, President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori are well-positioned to win the forthcoming presidential and governorship elections effortlessly in Delta State,” Oghenesivbe assured.
